Legislation
Under the new regulation, "The Duty to Manage Asbestos in non-domestic properties", if you own, occupy, manage or have responsibilities for premises that may, or may not contain asbestos, you will either have:
A legal duty to manage the risk from this material or,
A legal duty to co-operate with whoever manages that risk in order to enable him to manage the risk from asbestos in non-domestic premises, the duty holder shall ensure that:
A suitable and sufficient assessment is carried out as to whether asbestos is, or is liable to be present in the premises.
A determination of the risk from asbestos is made.
The measures which are to be taken for managing that risk are specified in a written plan.
